THRISSUR, JAN.17. The Education Minister, Nalakath Soopy, today cancelled all his programmes in the district following reports that DYFI and SFI activists planned to disrupt his functions demanding his resignation in the wake of the allegations relating to the sanction of private B.Ed. colleges. The Minister was scheduled to inaugurate the State Technical School Athletic Meet at Ramavarmapuram this morning. However, though he was at the Government Guest House, Ramanilayam, he chose to remain confined there to avoid any trouble. The Minister, however, addressed a press conference at Ramanilayam. The DYFI workers held a demonstration at the venue where the Technical School Athletic Meet was to be held, even though the Minister did not turn up.
