PONDICHERRY, JAN. 17. The `Legion of Mary in Pondicherry' has acquired the `Senatus' status and a large number of members attended the celebration at the Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School here. The parish priest of the Pondicherry Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Rev. Fr. A. Thomas, today referred to the significance of Legion of Mary and its role. The Legion of Mary had been functioning so far under the Senatus of Chennai as a Comitium. The Chennai Senatus has now been divided and Pondicherry has since been conferred the higher rank of Senatus from the previous position of a Comitium.
