KARIMNAGAR, JAN. 17. The hamali society contractor, N Yellaiah, was allegedly thrashed by some hamalies for denying them work at FCI godowns in Nagunuru village on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Saturday. The Karimnagar rural police said that the hamali contractor had appointed some persons in FCI godowns for loading and unloading sometime ago. He had appointed additional 80 labourers allegedly after collecting huge sum from them. The old labourers argued stating that they would not get sufficient work with the deployment of additional hamalies, thrashed the contractor and handed him over to police, it was said. The contractor lodged a complaint against 10 hamalies in which he said they had snatched Rs 25,000 in cash from him.
