Navy chief visits NCC camp

NEW DELHI JAN. 17 . The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Madhavendra Singh, today visited the NCC Republic Day Camp-2004 in Delhi cantonment and was presented a guard of honour by a contingent of smartly dressed cadets of all three wings.

Thereafter he visited the Flag Area and listened to the briefing on the theme "Igniting young minds" and " Global Warming". He also visited the aero-modelling and ship- modelling rooms and also informally interacted with the NCC cadets.

" The NCC is a great cohesive force, which is unifying the youth of the country and it develops character, comradeship, discipline and ideals of selfless service among youths,'' said the Admiral.

Water supply at low pressure

NEW DELHI JAN. 17. Due to the annual flushing of the Jeet Garh reservoir, water supply will be available at low pressure from January 19, to Jan.24 in Malka Ganj, Old Subzi Mundi, Kamla Nagar, Banglow Road, Shakti Nagar, Rajpur Road, Police Line area, Roop Nagar, Siri Ram Institute.

Similarly due to annual flushing of over head/ underground tank, water supply will be available at low pressure on January 19.in GH-10, Paschim Vihar, 144 ST Raghubir Nagar, Tagor Garden, Janta Madipur, Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar.

35 cases settled

NEW DELHI Jan. 17 .A Special Court was held in Tihar Court Complex today to dispose of cases of petty offenders languishing in jail. The court was presided by Bharat Parashar, MM, Delhi. Cases of 47 prisoners were taken up out of which 35 were disposed of and remaining 7 referred back to their regular courts.

The cases were screened by the Finger Print Bureau of the Delhi Police so as to eliminate habitual offenders.

Rally for oil conservation

NEW DELHI JAN. 17. Braving the early morning chill, hundreds of women dressed in caps and T-shirts carrying the logo of the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) today participated enthusiastically in the `Save Oil Two-wheeler women's rally-2004' organised in various parts of the country including the Capital.

The rally was part of a series of programmes organised by PCRA across the country to motivate people, especially women and children, to take up the cause of oil and natural gas conservation.

NEW DELHI JAN.17. The "35th Spiritual Ascension Day" of the founding father of "Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vidyalaya" would be observed by lakhs of inmates of the institution across the globe as "International peace, Love and Meditation Day" this Sunday.

New DRM of Northern Railway

NEW DELHI JAN.17. The Divisional Railway Manager, Danapur Division of East Central Railway, Pradeep Kumar Goel has taken over as Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi. He replaces V.K. Agarwal, who has been posted as the principal Chief Engineer, Northern Railway.

Dr. Goel joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1976 and since then he has held many responsible positions in various departments.

He has worked in almost all divisions of Northern and Western Railways and later joined as Executive Director, Passenger Marketing in the Ministry of Railways.
