3 AIADMK cadres electrocuted

JAN. 17.
Three All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionaries were electrocuted this evening when a party flag mast came into contact with a live electric wire at Ayyapuram in this district.
The police said the functionaries arranged for a function, to celebrate the party founder, M. G. Ramachandran's birth anniversary.
When S. Esakki (26) of Ayyapuram climbed up the mast to tie a rope, the iron pole, unable to bear the weight, bent and came into contact with a live wire, killing him on the spot, injuring seven others. K. Thirumalayaandi (45) and K. Muppidathi (35), also from Ayyapuram, died on way to hospital. Five others have been admitted to the Tenkasi Government Hospital and their condition is said to be ``stable''.
