Clear skies

CHENNAI, JAN. 17. The sky will be mainly clear on Sunday and the minimum temperature will be 19 degree Celsius.

Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degree Celsius and a minimum of 18.8 degree Celsius on Saturday. Meenambakkam recorded maximum temperature of 29.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 18.6 degree Celsius. Humidity level stood at 74 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.

Quiz

`The Hindu-Business Line Corporate Quiz' will be held at Hotel Taj Coromandel on Sunday. The topic of the event is Business and Industry. Registration for the event will start from 1 p.m. onwards at the venue and the finals are expected to commence at 4 p.m.

Office

Can Fin Homes, a subsidiary of Canara Bank which provides housing finance, will open a Representative Office at Velachery on January 19. The new office at No. 2, Tambaram-Taramani Link Road, will be inaugurated by O.P. Sosamma, Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Land Reforms, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

Pongal record

Over 500 families marked Pongal festival by attempting to set a world record for cooking great quantities of sweet pongal at the VGP Temple of Peace, Injambakkam on Pongal day. The event, which aimed to celebrate religious unity and universal brotherhood, was witnessed by people from different faiths.

Drawing competition

A.L.M. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Injambakkam will conduct an interschool drawing and oratorial competition on road safety on January 30 for students in standard seven and above. The last date for registration is January 27. For further details contact 24491355.
