IIT alumni to back Government efforts

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 17. The Well Wishers of Andhra Pradesh (WWAP), a worldwide group of professionals comprising successful executives, academicians and entrepreneurs -- majority of them IIT alumni from the

State -- welcomed the January 11 announcement of the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to establish an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the State.

In a representation to the Prime Minister, the WWAP members said they were interested in supporting the efforts of the Government in setting up an IIT that would enhance nation's prestige.

The California-based WWAP chairman, Subhash Mulpuri, termed the announcement and support of the Central Government well-deserved recognition of the endeavours of the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, IT professionals and IIT alumni in contributing to Hyderabad and India as a source of world-wide pride.
