Recovery

COIMBATORE, JAN. 17. All the 73 branches of the Union Bank of India in Coimbatore region will observe a loan recovery month from January 19 to February 18. They will conduct loan recovery camps, lok adalats and discussions with legal experts, besides making direct visits to those who are yet to repay loan amounts at various places, according to a release.

Celebrations

The Arulmigu Kannika Parameswari Amman Devasthanam and the Vinayagar Kalaimandram have organised a `Villi Bharatham' discourse by Tiruchi K. Kalyanaraman, as part of the Pongal and Tamil New Year celebrations, at 7 p.m. every day from January 19 to 29, at the auditorium of the Kannika Parameswari Amman Temple, according to a release.

Symposium

A one-day technical symposium, `Portentous-2004', will be organised by the Association of Computer Applications of the D. J. Academy for Managerial Excellence (DJAME), on January 23. The events will include paper presentation, technical quiz, word hunt, project management, web designing and marketing. There will be special addresses on `Career Opportunities in Information Technology', and `Biometrics and the Common Man', according to a release.

Blood donation

The Lions Club of Coimbatore Tatabad, the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and the Visalachi Sivanadian Charitable Trust, will conduct a blood donation camp at the Sri Narayanaguru Institute of Engineering Technology, Madukkarai, according to a release.

Camps

To encourage entrepreneurs start small-scale industries, the District Industries Centre is conducting entrepreneur development camps at the panchayat union offices, every month. The next camp will be conducted at the Avanashi panchayat union at 3 p.m. on January 21, according to a Collectorate press release.

Invited

The Director of the UGC-Academic Staff College of Bharathiar University, N. Balasubramanian, has been invited to be one of the Executive Peer-reviewers of the International Journal of Educational Technology and Society, which is endorsed by the IEEE Learning Technology Task Force and published by the International Forum for Educational Technology and Society, according to a release.
