By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 17. The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) has allocated close to Rs. 8 crores for the development of parks and greenery in the twin cities this year.

All the parks including those abutting the slum areas would be `modernised', according to the Mayor, T. Krishna Reddy.

Talking to presspersons on the occasion of the 63rd Clean and Green campaign here on Saturday, Mr. Reddy appealed to the colony welfare associations and others to come forward and take over the maintenance of works in their localities.

The corporation has planted 7.24-lakh saplings in the twin cities since 1999 and two-lakh were planted in the last 12 months.

Mr. Reddy accompanied by the MCH Commissioner, Chitra Ramachandran, the Tourism Minister, T. Srinivas Yadav, the Deputy Mayor Subash Chanderji, and others planted saplings at the Narendra Park in New Nallakunta.

The park has been spruced up at a cost of Rs. 7 lakhs
