Government criticised

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 17. The CPI(M) district secretary, M. Vijayakumar, has flayed the Government order on the fair value for land through an extraordinary gazette notification. In statement here, Mr. Vijayakumar said the order had caused chaos at registration offices where officials were levying stamp duty and other fees for documentation in a whimsical manner. According to the former Speaker, the confusion had led to a virtual freeze on land transactions in the district.

Building complex

The CMP is to erect a building complex in memorial of its departed leaders M. P. Padmanabhan and Stanley Sathyanesan. The CMP district secretary, G. Sugunan, said a fund mobilisation campaign had been launched to complete the project.

Attack condemned

The managements and staff of Technopark companies have strongly condemned the recent attacks on some firms and their properties by miscreants. In a statement, the president of the Group of Technopark Companies (GTECH), Sunil Gupta, said such irresponsible acts would only serve to reinforce the image of the State as an investor-hostile destination. He urged the Government and all political parties to take steps to resolve contentious issues of the workforce at Technopark.

Banking examination

The JAIIB/CAIIB/DBF examinations of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (formerly The Indian Institute of Bankers), Mumbai, will be held on January 18, 15 and February 1 at the Karthika Tirunal Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls at Manacaud.

Train rescheduled

The Thiruvananthapuram— Gorakhpur Rapthisagar express scheduled to leave here at 4.45 a.m. tomorrow will leave only at 10.30 a.m. due to the late running of the incoming pairing train.
