Low-quality

paint seized

KOCHI, JAN. 17. The Muvattupuzha police have confiscated low-quality paint worth Rs. 1 crore from a godown at Thangalam in Kothamangalam. Two people have been taken into custody. The police are on the lookout for the owner of the godown. The police worked on a complaint lodged by some local paint dealers that low-quality paint was being supplied against the name of a Sharjah-based firm.

Soopy burnt

Activists of the DYFI burnt the Education Minister, Nalakath Soopy, in effigy in front of the SRV High School in the city today, demanding his resignation from the State Cabinet.

A strong police contingent was present at the spot to prevent any untoward incident. The activists of the DYFI and the SFI had on Friday tried to wave black flags when the Minister arrived at the Government Guest House here, over the allotment of B.Ed. colleges to

private managements.

Interactive session

The Girinagar Welfare Association will hold an interactive session with officers of important departments at the Giri Nagar Community Hall at 3 p.m. on January 20.
