Transport workers union threatens stir

KOTTAYAM,
JAN. 18.
The INTUC-affiliated Kerala State Transport Workers' Union has threatened to resort to a strike next month, if their demands were not met.
Speaking to mediapersons here recently, the president of the union, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, said their demands include disbursal of arrears of Dearness Allowance, effecting promotions that had been stalled since January 2002, ban on direct appointments to the middle management cadre, calling off of the move to denationalise the various routes and initiation of democratic dialogue with the trade unions and the management.
