THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN.18. The State police are learned to have submitted a preliminary report to the Government based on a Special Branch inquiry into reports that a Kochi-based job placement agency was recruiting `retired army personnel' for `guard duty with the Army at Iraq'. According to top police officials, a recruitment agency identified as `S.N. International' run by one `Prabhakaran' of Kollam had interviewed 78 persons for the job in Kochi recently. The police are verifying whether all those interviewed were retired army personnel. An official said the recruitment was based on a demand letter send by a Kuwait based firm identified by the police as `Seventh International Company Ltd-Kuwait'. The demand letter was for 2000 `persons as security guards with the army in Iraq'. The demand letter was sent in the name of `S.Q Enterprises, Mumbai', officials said. The police said none of those interviewed had undergone any medical examination. The police were verifying whether there was any `illegality' in the entire recruitment process. A comprehensive report on the recruitment drive would be submitted to the Government soon.
