KARIMNAGAR, JAN. 18. The Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in collaboration with the Oriental Insurance Company Limited have jointly decided to introduce a novel medical insurance scheme of `Arogya Jyothi' for the benefit of poor people in the district. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Ch Vidyasagar Rao, the Minister for Transport, M. Damodar Reddy, would formally launch the scheme on January 20 in the hospital. A person could avail medical expenses to the tune of Rs. 60,000 per annum in the hospital with the payment of premium of Rs. 104 per annum (for a family of seven persons). Out of the Rs. 60,000 insurance amount, the Oriental insurance would pay Rs. 30,000 and the remaining Rs. 30,000 by the PIMS hospital. The hospital would provide a pass book for the insured person for free treatment during the insurance period. The hospital authorities with the assistance of philanthropists would be sponsoring about 10,000 people under the `Arogya Jyothi' insurance scheme on the occasion, B. Srinivas Rao, the managing director of PIMS stated in a press note here today.
