VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 18. The former Vijayawada West MLA, Jaleel Khan, undertook a `praja prasthanam' padayatra in the second municipal division on Sunday. He received petitions from the residents of the division. Many gave representations stating that they had been asking for ration cards at every Janmabhoomi for the last four years, but they have not received them yet. They even showed the acknowledgements they obtained from the nodal officers. Some complained that they do not have electoral identity cards. The MLA gave financial support to seven families which were badly in need for it. They told the MLA that power tariffs, the prices of essential commodities and cooking gas had shot up like never before. Second division corporator, M. Koteswara Rao, the Standing Committee chairman, Dadi Appa Rao, leaders-- Naraharaseti Srihari, Pilli Raju, Ch.Durgaprasada Rao, Abdul Majeed, Sheik Salim , B. Madhu-- participated in the padayatra.
