UDUPI, JAN. 18 . Twenty-two tableaux were taken out in a procession to mark the Paryaya festival here on Sunday. Tableaux depicting Sri Chaturbhuja Kaliyamardana Krishna, Kamadhenu feeding milk to Lord Srinivasa, Gajendra Moksha, Balanjaneya, Gitopadesha, Samudra Mathana, Anjaneya in Ravana's palace, Krishna Rasaleela, Navaneetachora, the Kunjargiri Mountain and Temple, Hanuman, Bheema, and Madhwacharya worshipping Lord Kadagolu Krishna, Lakshmana cutting the nose of Surpankha, Sage Brighu getting angry at Vaikunta, Vadiraja going on a tour by a palanquin, Bheema on a cart, Vishwamitra giving lessons to Lava and Kusha along with Sita, Narasimha Avatara, Shamantakamani, Shakatasura Vadhe, Vali-Sugreeva, Udupi Sri Krishna Prabhavali, and Bhasmasura Mohini were the major attraction. Several folk and cultural troupes participated in the procession. They included "somakasura'', "tatiraya'', the Kalladaka team, the "rana kahale'' instrument team, the "chande'' team comprising 108 musicians, the ''pancha vadya'' team from Kerala, the saxophone recital team, "panjina kunita'', "pata kunita'', "banaki kugu'', the "somana kunita'' team from Tumkur, the "chita mela'' team from Hassan, "kangilu nritya'', "karadi majalu'' from Bagalkot, "veeragaase'' from Chikmagalur, and bhajana teams. The procession began from Joddu Katte at 2.30 a.m. and passed through Taluk Office Road, Diana Circle, Old Post Office Road, Ideal Circle, Tenkapete, and culminated on Car Street.
