Clear skies

CHENNAI, JAN. 18 . The sky will be mainly clear on Monday and the minimum temperature will be 19 degree Celsius.

On Sunday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 18.8 degrees Celsius. At Meenambakkam, the corresponding temperatures were 30.1 degrees Celsius and 18.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels were 80 and 82 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Chintadripet, Esplanade, Egmore, Sowcarpet, Mandaveli and Pudupet areas on January 20 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Medical camp

About 300 patients attended a free medical camp organised by the Hindu Mission Hospital at Panchayat Union Middle School at Ninna Karai on Sunday.

Course

Annai Velankanni College and St. John's Ambulance Association will conduct a course in First Aid. After an eight-week-long training, students will be given a certificate. Further details can be had from 24896591.

Clothes given

SMILE (Selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere) distributed clothes and walking sticks to about 60 visually-impaired residents of Sembedu Village, Thiruvallur District last week. Volunteers of the organisation also removed garbage from the canal on Giriappa Road in T.Nagar.

Heart care camp

Bio Oxy Clinic on 83rd Street, Subba Rao Avenue in Nungambakkam will conduct a free heart care camp between January 21 and February 21. People suffering from heart ailments can avail the free checks including ECG and Doppler test.

`Granth'

Former Supreme Court Judge, S.Mohan released the `Abhinandan Granth' of Hindi Writer Amar Singh Wadhan at a function recently. Pushpalata Taneja, chairperson and director of Central Hindu Directorate, offered her felicitations to the writer.

Training centre

The Ability Foundation has launched the National Centre for Information and Communication Technology to train disabled people. Fatal fall

A 22-year-old youth died when he slipped and fell down the stairs from the fifth floor of the Stanley Medical College hospital today. Arul, who was suffering from a kidney failure, was admitted to the hospital last month.

The Sevenwells police said that he belonged to Mathur village in Villupuram district.
