Photo exhibition on Mahabharata

CHENNAI, JAN. 18. The Chennai Circle of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will organise an eight-day-long photo exhibition on the depiction of Mahabharata on Indian monuments.

Rare photos of sculptural depictions of Mahabharata episodes and important temples will be featured in the exhibition, according to a press note from T.Sathyamurthy, Superintending Archaeologist.

The ASI is organising the exhibition as part of its efforts to impart authentic information on monuments to the public, especially children.

Principals of select schools have been invited to send their students to the exhibition. Competition for students, such as identification of sculptures, monuments and inscriptions will be held.

S. Ratnavel Pandian, former Supreme Court Judge will inaugurate the exhibition at 11 a.m. on January 21 at the Fort Museum in Fort St. George.

The exhibition will be held till January 29 except on January 23. Further details can be had from the curator, Fort Museum at: 25671127 and 25670854.
