The BDA squad demolishing illegal structures in Koramangala.
BANGALORE, JAN. 18. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) demolished two unauthorised constructions adjacent to each other and recovered a prime property worth over Rs. 1.5 crore in Koramangala on Sunday. According to a BDA release here, land for the Koramangala Layout was acquired in 1969 and the layout formed in 1972. Influential persons had encroached upon this land by fabricating documents. "Two fictitious possession certificates were created in the favour of a couple - one in the name of Panindra (husband) on March 29, 1989, and another in favour of Sandhya (wife) on April 26, 1989. This is illegal as husband and wife are treated as one family and are entitled to only one site. Moreover, the two sites - measuring 50X80 each - are located side by side," the release added. "A GPA was created in favour of Chandrika Narayan, said to be the sister of Ms. Sandhya. Surprisingly, the fabricated document shows the allotment price as Rs 16,000 whereas in 1989 the allotment price was Rs 60,000," the release said. The BDA Commissioner, Jayakar Jerome, supervised the demolition. The Deputy Commissioner, Rameshappa, the Superintendent of Police of the Special Task Force of BDA, Revanna, and the local police assisted in the operation, the release added.
