PATNA, JAN. 19. The Rashtriya Janata Dal president, Laloo Prasad Yadav, and the Union Minister for Small Scale industries, C.P. Thakur, have begun a slanging match over the alleged irregularities in the purchase and supply of medicines for the dispensaries under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) during Mr. Thakur's tenure as Health Minister. The RJD workers today burnt an effigy of Mr. Thakur while Mr. Yadav demanded that the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, dismiss him from the Cabinet. The RJD chief demanded that the CBI register a case against Mr. Thakur as he and his family members were involved in the medicine purchase scam.
