NEW DELHI, JAN. 19. Joining the growing list of nations whose representatives have shown great interest in the Delhi Metro, the Vice-Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Buwo, today visited the Delhi Metro system and evinced interest in having such a system for Jakarta, which has been struggling with its own traffic problems. Dr. Buwo, before whom the Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, E. Sreedharan, made a detailed presentation on the progress of the project, its technological highlights and its advantage over other modes of transport, also took a ride on the Delhi Metro. Dr. Buwo is believed to have told Mr. Sreedharan, that he wants a similar system for Jakarta to tide over its traffic problem. Though Jakarta has conducted several studies, it has not been able to finalise the transport system it wants. But considering the Capital's similar history - as the city also conducted 35 studies before deciding in favour of the Metro - DMRC officials said Delhi is really in a position to provide Jakarta a realistic solution to its problem.
