NEW DELHI, JAN. 19. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, today divested the party general secretary, Ambika Soni, of the charge of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, dropped another general secretary, Nawal Kishore Sharma, and appointed the former Chief Ministers, Digvijay Singh, and Ashok Gehlot, as special invitees to the Working Committee. Two secretaries were also appointed and five other special invitees were inducted into the Working Committee in the first such exercise after the debacle in three States. The reshuffle was undertaken to tone up the functioning of the party to face the coming Lok Sabha polls, the AICC general secretary, Oscar Fernandes, told reporters here. PTI
