I am not in the race for PM: Jayalalithaa

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JAN. 19. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today said she was not in the race for Prime Minister.

``I derive happiness and take pride in being the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. My call to the AIADMK (All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) cadres to win the maximum number of seats in the Lok Sabha polls is only to ensure that we are able to secure Tamil Nadu's rights and obtain more benefits for the State from the Centre,'' she said in a statement.

Referring to the reported remark by the editor of Thuglak, Cho S. Ramasamy, that she was dreaming of becoming Prime Minister by being in a strong bargaining position with a good chunk of the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, Ms. Jayalalithaa said: ``I am not dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister.''
