NEW DELHI, JAN. 19. The Bharatiya Janata Party president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, is all set to be re-elected to the top party post for a three-year term on January 28, the last date for withdrawal of nominations for the post. The returning officer for the election, O.P. Kohli, has announced the schedule nominations begin tomorrow, January 20, and close on the afternoon of January 26, scrutiny the next day and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 28. Election, if necessary, will take place on February 6 when a meeting of the party's national council has been called, and the new president will formally take charge of the president's office. Since nominations are not expected for anyone other than Mr. Naidu, he is expected to be declared elected on January 28. At the party's recent national executive meeting in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister had given a clear indication that Mr. Naidu would continue in the top party post. He had said: "na mein kahin jaoonga, ne mein unhe kahin bhagne doonga (I am not going away, nor will I let him run away from his responsibilities)."
