KOCHI, JAN. 20. A day's `ksheera hartal' called by the Presidents' Association of Anand Pattern Cooperative Societies (APCoS) on Wednesday was called off today following an assurance from the State Government that the Association's demand that milk price in the four central region districts should be on a par with the procurement price in the Thiruvananthapuram region. The president of APCoS, P.C. Kuriakose, said the hartal was called off after the Dairy Development Secretary had given an assurance that the Association demand would be given sympathetic consideration. He said that over a month ago the Association had submitted an appeal to the Government to bring milk prices at a par. The milk procurement price being offered by Milma in the Thiruvananthapuram region is Rs. 10.71 per litre while the price in the districts of Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam and Thrissur continued to be Rs. 10.13 per litre. There are about 700 societies under the APCoS.
