VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 20. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State committee on Tuesday took exception to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader, A. Narendra's remarks that his party would enter into an alliance with only such parties which make their stand clear on the separate Telangana. "The TRS should refrain from making such statements at a time when other parties are trying to ensure that a split in Opposition vote should be avoided to defeat the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party combine," the CPI(M) secretary, B.V. Raghavulu, said. In an informal chat with newsmen, Mr Raghavulu, who was here in connection with the regional convention of DWCRA women, sought to know as to what Mr. Narendra meant by claiming that the TRS was not keen on the defeat of the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre. This would mean that the TRS was also not keen on defeating the TDP which was a key player in the NDA coalition. "The TRS should clarify whether it is working to serve the interest of the TDP despite being in the Opposition camp,'' he said. Explaining the party's strategy for the polls, he said the CPI(M) was keen on ensuring that there was no split in the Opposition vote. Once a broad understanding was reached between parties issues like seat-sharing could be sorted out. Mr. Raghavulu also took a dig at the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for announcing sops to woo different sections of society.
