THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 20. The issue of giving NOCs to start B.Ed. colleges figured in the Assembly once again today with the Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan demanding a statement from the Chief Minister on the adverse remarks of the Kerala High Court against the senior Government officials and the sanctioning process. Mr. Achuthanadan wanted the political leadership to give an answer first. Mr. Antony informed the House that he has not got all the details regarding the issue. He would make a statement on the issue as soon as they were available, he said. Mr. Antony refuted Mr. Achuthanandan's charge that the Government was trying to avoid the issue.
CPI for judicial probe
The State secretary of the CPI, Veliyam Bhargavan, today demanded a judicial probe into the B.Ed. college issue, after keeping the Education Minister, Nalakath Soopy out of office, in the light of the High Court's reported decision to initiate contempt of court action against the Government over it.
