Clear sky forecast

Forecast: Mainly clear sky. Minimum temperature would be 18 degrees Celsius. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 27.3 degrees Celsius and minimum was 20.0 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 81 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 63 per cent. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 31.2 degrees Celsius and 19.9 degrees Celsius respectively, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 59 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 27.8 degrees Celsius and 19.0 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 75 per cent.

Refinery PRO dead

The Senior Public Relations Officer of Visakh Refinery, M. Srinivasachari, died of a massive heart attack recently. He was 46 and is survived by mother, wife, daughtger and son. Joining Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited as Hindi translator in 1982, he became the Law Officer in the corporate headquarters in Mumbai in 1997. Mr. Srinivasachari was made the refinery's PRO in 2000 and elevated as Senior PRO last year.

Dial your depot manager

The Maddilapalem depot of APSRTC is organising the `dial your depot manager' from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday on telephone No. 2553577. Representations, suggestions and complaints about city bus services from the public would be responded to by the depot manager.

Customer meet

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is organising customer meetings from 10 a.m. on January 27 in the district. Grievances regarding telecom services can be represented to the BSNL officials at the meetings to be held at offices of General Manager (Vizag) and of the Divisional Engineers of Anakapalle and Chodavaram.

New ITC cards

BSNL has introduced new ITC cards to ease the congestion for outgoing calls. The ITC cardholders would have to dial 160912 for activation and on hearing the voice response, the secret code on the card is to be dialled. After activation, 160212 is to be dialled for accessing the service instead of 160244 as in the previous cards. The duration of the card now starts from the date of activation. Old ITC cards would be in operation till their period of validity.

LPG inspection

The LPG distributors, as per the directions of the oil industry, would carry out mandatory inspection of all connections once in every two years, according to the president of the Visakha LPG Dealers Association, J.L.N. Kumar. The customer had to fill up a prescribed format and a representative of the distributor concerned would depute his or her representative with an identity card attested by the distributor, to the customer. The representative would explain in detail the safe use of LPG and also advise the customer if the rubber tube needed to be changed. A nominal fee of Rs.25 would be collected from the customer for the inspection, Mr. Kumar added.

Timpany offers CBSE plus two

The three Timpany Schools, belonging to the ETASI group, are introducing CBSE stream at the `plus two' stage also with effect from academic 2004-05.

According to the group's chairman, Ken Gnanakkan, students completing Std. X in any of the three schools can opt for CBSE or ICSE plus two stream.
