Explosion in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, JAN. 20. A loud explosion was heard late on Tuesday in the central part of the city but the cause was not immediately known.

The explosion occurred at about 9.30 p.m., startling residents and soldiers guarding checkpoints.

A suicide bomb attack on Sunday morning outside the headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition authorities here killed at least 31 persons and injured more than 120. — AP
