BANGALORE, JAN. 20. Bangalore and suburbs will soon have another FM channel to listen to. This one will be different as the music broadcast will be Carnatic and Hindustani classical music and those of the devotional, light, and folk genres. All India Radio will launch the music channel (on 100.4 Mhz.) on Republic Day. Programmes will be on air from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The channel plans to broadcast sponsored music concerts conducted by organisations and individuals. The inauguration of the channel will be broadcast live from Chowdiah Memorial Hall from 6 p.m. on Monday. Well-known musicians L. Subramaniam, M.S. Sheela, Vinayak Torvi, H.K. Narayana, and Vidyabhushana will perform. Audiocassettes and CDs from the rare collection in the archives of the AIR will be on sale at the venue. Music lovers can get invitations to the event from the office of the All Indian Radio, Bangalore, on Raj Bhavan Road.
