Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the editorial, "Jihad against jihadis" (Jan. 21). Successive Pakistani Governments created jihadi outfits and nurtured them to act against India and Russia. After 9/11, international pressure is mounting on Pakistan to disband the outfits and stop cross-border terrorism. This has forced Pervez Musharraf to take on the extremists. Akhil Kumar, New Delhi * * * Sir, Gen. Musharraf's call is certainly a bold step. Never in the past has any Pakistani leader had the courage to speak out against the jihadi groups so openly. If he is sincere, he can certainly check anti-India activities, if not completely eliminate them. R. Muralikumar, Chennai
