Close contest for top slots in varsity youth fete

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 21. As the results for 29 events in the ongoing Kerala University Union Youth Festival were announced, the Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram took the lead with 31 points, followed by the All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram and Mar Baselios College, Thiruvananthapuram with 21 points each, trailed by the Sri Swathi Tirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram with 20 points. The University Campus, Kariavattom, with 19 points, and the Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram, and the Sri Chithra Tirunal College of Engineering, Pappanamcode, with 16 points each, were also in the running. Ramya Ramanan (FM N College, Kollam) with 13 poin ts and Divya. R. Nair (Mar Baselios College, Thiruvananthapuram) with 10 points are in the race for the "Kalathilakom" title. Bobby Krishna (Medical Colle ge, Thiruvananthapuram) and Srinath. K.R (Mar Ivanios), with 8 points each, are in the race for the "Kalapratibha" title.

The results of some of the competitions held today are given below in the order of first, second and third respectively.

Kuchipudi (male): Srinath. K. R (Mar Ivanios College), Bobby Krishna (Medical College), Mahesh. V. J (KNM Arts and Science College, Kanjiramkulam).

Kuchipudi (female): Ramya Ramanan (FMN College, Kollam), Anjana. R (University College), Sini. S. C (Sree Swathi Tirunal College of Music).

Classical music (male): Sridev. R (Sri Swathi Tirunal College of Music), Najim Irshad (Sri Swathi Tirunal College of Music), Sreedhu Mohan (Mar Ivanios College).

Classical music (female): Priya. R (All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram), Divya. R (Sree Swathi Tirunal College of Music), Saritha. H (S.N. College, Cherthala).

String instrument (Western): Sheethal Reghunath (College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram), Pradeep Krishna (NSS College, Cherthala), Sajini Daniel (All Saints College).

Poetry recitation (English): Meera Alex (Mohandas College of Engineering, Anad), Indu. M. S (Mar Ivanios College), Jayalakshmi. G (Bishop Moore College, Mavelikkara) and Puja Bhavnik (College of Engineering).

Elocution (English): Vidya. S (Sri Chithra College of Engineering), Archana Ramachandran (College of Engineering), Srijith Vijayan (TKM College of Engineering, Kollam).
