CHENNAI, JAN. 21. Two weeks after restraining actor Dhanush alias Prabhu from acting in films signed after `Ragava', a new film, a city civil court here lifted the stay today. The III Assistant Civil Court granted the interim injunction on January 8 on an application filed by a film producer, Rufus Parker, alleging that Dhanush was acting in films accepted after `Ragava'. He also stated that Dhanush had been booked for a remuneration of Rs. 90 lakhs and was paid an advance of Rs. 15 lakhs in two instalments. Mr. Parker had also stated that when the matter was taken to the Tamil Nadu Film Producers' Council, the actor had agreed to reimburse expenditure to the tune of Rs. 22 lakhs though the company had spent Rs. 37.8 lakhs so far. However, in his reply, Dhanush pointed out that Mr. Parker had not filed any written or oral document to substantiate the claim that he had agreed to act in `Ragava'. Even the said advance amount had been paid to R.K. Productions and not to Dhanush. In the circumstances, as the unit had not been included as a party to the case, it should be dismissed for non-joinder of necessary parties, he submitted. When the matter came up for hearing today, the Judge heard arguments and held discussions with both sides. In the end, he adjourned the matter to January 23 stating that both the parties had agreed to "try compromise". He, however, made it clear that the interim injunction had not been extended.
