Partly cloudy sky

Partly cloudy sky with a minimum temperature of 16 degrees C is forecast for Thursday. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 27.7 degrees C and minimum was 18.5 degrees C on Wednesday, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 79 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 68 per cent. At airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 29.6 degrees C and 14.3 degrees C respectively, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 67 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 55 per cent. The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 28.0 degrees C and 17.9 degrees C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 81 per cent.

Meditation camp

A five-day meditation camp will be organised under the guidance of Marella Sriramakrishna at Sri Durga Gayathri Shakti Peetham in Bheemunipatnam from Thursday. According to its managing trustee, G. Chandrasekharam, members of Gayatri Parivar and sadhaks can attend the camp where free accommodation and food will be arranged for the participants.

Trade credit mela

Indian Overseas Bank is organising a two-day trade credit mela at the Ramnagar Lions community hall on Saturday and Sunday. According to the bank's senior regional manager, A.J. Prasad, apart from the lowest interest rates, the bank is arranging free processing of loans and offering free VISA card and free ATM/Any branch banking card to customers. The bank will also take over the existing loans at the lowest rates along with the free services.

Lecture on education

The renewed academician, Amrik Singh, will deliver a lecture on "Policy making in higher education'' under the auspices of the Centre for Policy Studies at the Builders' Association Hall, beside Hotel Tycoon, on Friday evening.

Philately workshop

The D.A.V. Public School in Butchirajupalem is organising a free philately workshop to promote the hobby among students and elders on its premises on Sunday. The Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices, Y.V. Rama Sarma, will conduct the workshop. Interested participants can register themselves by ringing up 2572523.

Office-bearers

G.M. Rama Rao has been elected president of the Pithapuram Colony Association at its recent general body meeting for a two-year tenure. The other office-bearers are: T.S. Rajeswaran and T. Satyanarayana, vice-presidents; K. Kshetrabala, general secretary; K. Appa Rao, treasurer; and M. Seetharamaiah, joint secretary.

Gold medallist

G. Manoj Kumar, son of VSP technician G. Srinivasa Rao, has won the gold medal at the recent seventh international art contest conducted by Wonder Art World in Hyderabad. A Std.IX pupil of Sri Satya Sai Gurukulam (Rajahmundry), he had won a gold medal at the second all-India youth and children art exhibition conducted last year by Vishwakala Darshini.
