Urdu Academy awards presentation on January 24

HYDERABAD, JAN. 21. The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, will give away the Urdu Academy Andhra Pradesh's lifetime achievement awards to six eminent personalities who had contributed to the promotion of Urdu in various fields at the Jubilee Hall here on January 24.

The awardees are Mujtar Mazaz (Amjad Hyderabadi award for poetry), Raashid Aazar (Sayeed Shaheedi award for poetry), Iffath Mohani (Agha Hyder Hussain award for short stories and novel), Dawood Ashraf (Dr. Mohiuddin Quadri Zor award for research and criticism), Abul Faheem Waheed Ali Khan (Prof. Habeebur Rahman award for Education) and Md. Munawar Ali (Mahboob Hussain Jigar award for Journalism). The awards carry a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and citation, a press release said here on Tuesday.
