Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in the wee hours of Wednesday intercepted a passenger bound for Dubai and seized from him Saudi and Qatar riyals, dirhams and Australian dollars woth Rs. 18.66 lakhs in Indian currency. It is learnt that one Anil Mantri Bhanwarlal, who held a Kenyan Work Permit, had travelled from Mumbai to board the Dubai-bound Emirates Airlines flight. The DRI officers suspected something amiss when they found a large packet of sweet biscuits. When they searched, they found the foreign currency in the sweet packet. Arrested: A woman, who had allegedly taken away two children of her brothers-in-law to force her former husband to give up the four children they had, was on Wednesday arrested by the Rein Bazar police. According to the police, Abbasi Begum (23) and Parvez, both residents of Ganganagar in Yakutpura, had gotten divorced four months ago. But Parvez had the custody of all their four children. On Tuesday afternoon, she allegedly took away Sana Fathima and Neha Fathima, both four years old, and informed her in-laws of this. This led to her arrest and restoration of children. Convicted: The Special Judge for CBI cases, Ravi Kumar, has convicted and sentenced a senior Assistant of the United India Insurance in Secunderabad, Ram Mohan Rao, to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment for taking bribe to show an official favour, a CBI press release said here on Wednesday. Liquor seized: A South Zone team of the Police Commissioner's Task Force stopped a scooter and, seized 50 litres of illicitly-distilled of liquor from V. Dasrath (26), according to the DCP, Task Force, Y. Gangadhar. Ends life: A 19 year-old student, who reportedly consumed poison unable to bear stomach pain, died at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Wednesday morning. The Narayanguda police said she was Priya Lokeswari, a resident of Basheerbagh.
