Another cold day ahead

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 21.JAN. 21.JAN. Delhi will remain cold and dull for yet another day. According to the weatherman, the fog will continue till forenoon and the sky would remain mainly cloudy. There is possibility of rain and thundershowers in some areas. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 9 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 16.2 degrees and a minimum of 11.8 degrees Celsius, while at Palam it was 15.9 and 10.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 93 per cent and 70 per cent respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum humidity stood at 95 per cent and 68 per cent.

Security guard murdered

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 21.JAN. 21.JAN. A 60-year-old security guard was found murdered in the basement of a shopping complex at Farsh Bazar in East Delhi today.

According to the police, Musafir Sharma, who used to live on the first floor of Apna Bazar Complex in Farsh Bazar, was found dead in the basement today morning. The hands and legs of the deceased were tied up and also a muffler was tied around his neck. Preliminary investigations revealed that Musafir had been working in the complex for the past eight years.

A case of murder has been registered at Farsh Bazar police station and further investigations in the case are on.

Man commits suicide

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 21.JAN. 21.JAN. A 20-year-old man allegedly shot himself dead with a country-made revolver following an altercation over a petty issue in his house at Bhajanpura in North-East Delhi on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Murtaja, a resident of Mohanpuri in Bhajanpura, came home last night in a highly inebriated state. His mother and sister rebuked him for excessive drinking following which an argument took place. Murtaja then pulled out a country-made revolver and shot himself in the temple. He was rushed to GTB Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.

Fire in car godown

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 21.JAN. 21.JAN. A fire broke out in a car godown at Ghazipur in East Delhi today. One person sustained minor injuries in the incident.

According to a fire department spokesperson, the fire broke out in the godown around 12 noon. At least seven fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was doused in an hour and 10 minutes. One person, Sunil, sustained minor injuries. He was discharged after first aid. East Delhi police are further looking into the incident.

Traffic restrictions

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 21.JAN. 21.JAN. The traffic police have imposed some restrictions on vehicular movements in view of the Beating the Retreat rehearsals at Vijay Chowk from 3-30 p.m. onwards on Thursday.

Those coming from Rajpath, Rafi Marg crossing, North Fountain, Raisina Road, South Fountain, Krishna Menon Marg, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Dalhausi Road, Parliament House and North-South Blocks, would not be allowed towards Vijay Chowk during the rehearsal.

Commuters going from North and South Blocks towards Vijay Chowk would be diverted to Gate Nos. 2 and 3 of Rashtrapati Bhawan to exit via Hukmimai Marg and Church Road. The traffic from Moti Lal Nehru Marg going towards Vijay Chowk would be diverted from Sunehri Masjid roundabout. Those coming from Dalhousi Road would be diverted from Rajaji-Dalhausi roundabout, while those coming from Krishna Menon Marg would be divert from its roundabout.
