NEW DELHI, JAN. 21. An e-mail recently sent to the director of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) by someone claiming himself to be an IPS officer, stating that he had arrested some people for leaking the papers of the institute's pre-Post Graduation examination, has been found to be fake. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in this regard. It is learnt that the AIIMS director had received the e-mail days before the pre-PG examination was to be conducted on January 11. The e-mail sender identified himself as Rakesh Chhabra and claimed that he was an officer from one Covert Operation Cell. In the e-mail, he gave the address of his office as that of the CBI Headquarters at Lodhi Road. The miscreant used a website "cbinic.zzn.com" - a name similar to that of the CBI portal - to send the e-mail and said investigations by his department had revealed that the examination papers for the tests on January 11 had been leaked. Praising the institute for conducting well-organised examinations, the miscreant claimed that he had arrested some persons for leaking the examination papers and had also recovered from them some papers. He asked the AIIMS director to send the original examination papers to tally with the seized ones and check their authenticity. The e-mail content created suspicion that someone was trying to procure original copy of the examination papers. Hence, the hospital authorities informed the CBI and showed the sleuths the e-mail. Initial probe revealed that there was no one in the police services named Rakesh Chhabra with the description provided by the e-mail sender and that the miscreant had created the portal "cbinic.zzn.com" by using free services available on the internet.
