CBI files Interpol report
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 21.
The CBI today filed a complete Interpol report in the Delhi High Court in connection with a petition filed by the Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, seeking a probe into a case of alleged antique smuggling from the country, but refused to give a copy of the same to Dr. Swamy, claiming privilege.
Senior counsel P. P. Malhotra filed the report before a Division Bench of the Chief Justice, B.C. Patel, and Justice B.D. Ahmed, which had on January 14 pulled up the agency for filing a ``half-hearted'' report.
Mr. Malhotra submitted that the petitioner was not entitled to any material collected by the CBI during the investigation of a matter and therefore the report could not be shared with Dr. Swamy.
Dr. Swamy sought time to study CBI's response to his plea and file a counter. The case will now be taken up on February 4. PTI
