Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the article, "Dialogue and its perils" (Jan. 22). While the proposed dialogue between the Centre and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Kashmir may look like a bargain between a "shopkeeper with no goods to sell and a customer with no cash", the move is laudable. Negotiation paves the way for peace. The Hurriyat leaders have agreed to the talks disregarding threats from terrorists in Pakistan.
C.P. Velayudhan Nair,
* * * Sir, To realise the sweetness of sugar, one needs to know the taste of bitterness. I agree with the view expressed in the article "Talking the Kashmir issue" (Jan. 21) that the Hurriyat leaders should be allowed to cross over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to let them experience the "reality" there.
H.H. Sharma,
* * * Sir, How can the APHC be considered the only representative of the Kashmiris? Where does it leave the Kashmiri Pandits?
Deepak Kumar Vidhyarthi,
Hyderabad
