Formidable challenge

Sir, — I refer to the editorial, "Jihad against jihadis" (Jan. 21). While Pervez Musharraf may be desirous of a change in Pakistan's hawkish stance, he should be wary of the danger in inviting the wrath of hardline military generals, leaders of extremist groups and anti-U.S. and anti- India policy-makers. Whether he can overcome their pressure is a big question.
