Letters to the Editor
Sir, This has a reference to the article "Is Rs. 400 so outrageous?" (Jan. 18). The author compares Indian prices with those in Hong Kong, Japan, U.S. and Singapore but conveniently forgets their relative percentage in the household income! Besides, in those countries, paid channels do not have advertisements.
Narayanan,
* * * Sir, In most of the countries mentioned in the article, such as Singapore, Japan and Thailand, the population is not much and the cable TV installation base might run into only a few lakhs, whereas in India it runs into crores.
M. Hari,
Hyderabad
