AGARTALA, JAN. 22. South Zone will have its task cut out against a confident East Zone when the teams lock horns in the Prof. D.B. Deodhar Trophy limited-overs cricket tournament at Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium here on Friday. South, with five points from two games, has to beat East (nine points) if it entertains any hopes of taking the crown. East has a good chance to close in on the title by winning Friday's game with a bonus point. The host is unlikely to change its winning combination. At Cuttack, North and Central clash in another game (both are on minus 1). The team which loses this match will be out of the title race. The teams (from): South Zone: M.S.K. Prasad (capt.), S. Ramesh, Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan, S. Sriram, Y. Venugopala Rao, S. Suresh, Sreekumar Nair, Dodda Ganesh, K.S. Shahabuddin, Tinu Yohannan, Y. Gnaneswar Rao, Ibrahim Khalil, S. Vishnuvardhan and Ajay Kudua. East Zone: Devang Gandhi (capt), Nikhil Haldipur, M.S. Dhoni, Kiran Powar, Deep Dasgupta, R. Satish, L.R. Shukla, Sanjib Sanyal, Anirban Chatterjee, Sourashish Lahiri, Shib Sankar Pal, Rajeev Kumar, Dipak Mangaraj, Srikanta Jena and Subal Chowdhury. Umpires: Balwant Sharma (Raj) and Suresh Shastri (Mum).
