BHADRAVATI, JAN. 22. The Shimoga unit of the All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) has urged the railway authorities to change the timings of the proposed Veg Dooth Express to be run between Shimoga and Bangalore. The train is proposed to leave Shimoga at 5 a.m. and reach Bangalore at 10.30 a.m. and on the return journey leave Bangalore at 5.30 p.m. and reach Shimoga at 10.30 p.m. In a press release issued here, the party said the timing was not convenient for people. Instead, it suggested that the train should leave Shimoga at 6 a.m. and reach Bangalore at 11 a.m. and on the return journey leave Bangalore at 5.00 p.m. to reach Shimoga at 10.00 p.m. The AIPJD demanded that the passenger train leaving Shimoga at 5 a.m. and reaching Bangalore at noon be retained as it would help a large number of passengers from poor and middle class families as the fares were less.
