Shanthi Sagara water for Chitradurga

CHITRADURGA, JAN. 22. C.M. Lingappa, MLA and Chairman of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWS&DB) laid the foundation stone here on Thursday to the second phase of the grand project of water supply to Chitradurga from Shanthi Sagara in Davangere district.

Mr. Lingappa said Chitradurga would get sufficient drinking water from Shanthi Sagar within a year. "We are working hard to complete the work at the earliest. This is the first time we are providing Rs. 80 crore to one town, Chitradurga. We are trying not to burden the City Municipal Council," he said. M. Chandrappa, Bharamasagar MLA, asked the authorities concerned to make this venture a permanent one. G.H. Thippa Reddy, Chitradurga MLA, spoke. Srinivas Reddy, Managing Director of the KUWS&DB, M.A. Sethuram, Chairman of Chitradurga Urban Development Authority, H. Sunil, President of the City Municipal Council, were present.
