Chole holds Humpy

CHENNAI, JAN. 22. Grandmaster Koneru Humpy was held to a draw by unknown Vikrant Chole in the opening round of the 1st Orient Flying School International Open chess tournament at Hotel President here on Thursday.

Except a few minor upsets, favourites in general had an easy time in the first round. Former National champion D.V. Prasad of Indian Oil who is looking for his final Grandmaster norm here received a setback when he was held to a draw by Himanshu Kumar.

Chennai's Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh of Indian Oil defeated R.R. Vasudevan of Canara Bank when the latter overlooked a pawn fork leading to a disastrous pin on the 40th move. The visiting Grandmasters had fluent victories.
