KOCHI, JAN. 22. The Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Fertilisers and Chemicals, Balwinder Kumar, and a member of the Board of Directors of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT), Rajneesh Goel, are slated to visit the company on Saturday. The two Union Ministry officials are expected to meet the management and interact with trade union leaders at the FACT, sources said here today. The visit of the officials has been linked to an ongoing effort by the Union Government to financially restructure the company, and the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) that is scheduled to close on January 31. The scheme that opened in the last week of December had evoked a lukewarm response. According to sources, 361 employees in various categories have so far submitted their applications to be considered for the scheme.
