Birth centenary observance

ALAPPUZHA, JAN. 22. The Cultural Affairs Minister, G. Karthikeyan, will inaugurate the birth centenary observance of Muthukulam Parvathiamma, writer and social worker, at a function at Muthukulam Higher Secondary School on January 26 at 2 p.m., the organising committee secretary, R. Muraleedharan, has said.

At a press conference here today, Mr. Muraleedharan said the Information Minister, M.M. Hassan, would present the Muthukulam Parvathiamma memorial award for the year 2003 to short story writer Chandramathi for her book `Perilla Prashnangal.' M.K. Sanu, writer, will preside.

Sukumar Azhikode, social critic, will release the copy of Bhagawad Gita translated by Muthukulam Parvathi Amma by presenting a copy to Mevila N. Bhaskara Pillai, former professor of Viswabharathi.
