Mar Ivanios College takes lead in varsity youth fete

Thiruvananthapuram Jan. 22. With a day left for the conclusion of the Kerala University Youth festival, the Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, with 50 points is leading the points tally followed by the All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram, with 44 points and the University campus, Karyavattom, with 41 points when the results of 43 events were announced on Thursday.

For the `Kalapratibha' title, the contest is between Srinath K.R. (Mar Ivanios College), who has secured 13 points, and Bobby Krishna (Medical College) with 9 points.

With Rakesh Kumar (Government Law College), who secured 10 points, not contesting in any event, the contest for the title would be between Bobby Krishna and Srinath.

K.R., who are yet to take part in the Kathakali and Ottamthullal competitions to be held on Friday.

The contest for the `Kalathilakam' title is still on with Ramya Ramanan (Fathima Matha National College, Kollam) in the lead with 13 points followed by Divya. R. Nair (Mar Ivanios College - 10 points) and Anjana R. (University College - 9 points). With Mothi Mayyanad (University Campus, Karyavattom) who scored 12 points out of the race following the completion of the events in which she had registered, the contest for the title would be between Ramya Ramanan, Divya. R. Nair and Anjana.

The results of some of the events are given below in the order of first, second and third prizes.

Group song: Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram, All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram and Karyavattom Government College.

Folk dance (Female): Anjana R. (University College), Vidyamol T.M (TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara), Soumya B. (S.N. College, Cherthala).

Folk dance (Male): Srinath. K.R. (Mar Ivanios College), Mahesh V.J. (KNM Arts and Science College, Kanjiramkulam), Bobby Krishna (Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram).

Oppana: All Saints College, S.N. College for Women, Kollam, Mar Ivanios College.

Debate (Malayalam): Sreeparvathi and Nisha V.S. (Women's College), Iype T. Vallikkadan and Pramal P (S.D. College, Alappuzha), Indu V. Pillai and Sony Solomon (S.N. College for Women, Kollam).

Aksharaslokam: Meera Ramesh (University campus, Karyavattom), Manju (S.D. College, Alappuzha), Harshachandraraj P.R. (Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara).

Kathaprasangam: Savitha S.N. (All Saints College), Sreerekha G. (S.D. College, Alappuzha), Arunsankar (T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha).

Rangoli: Rakesh Kumar (Government Law College), Anupama Suguram (College of Engineering), Mothy Mayyanad (University campus, Karyavattom).

Tabla: Prasanth. S.O. (Sri Swathi Tirunal College of Music), Sunil Kumar P.K. (T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha), Satish Krishna (St. Xavier's College, Thumba).
