THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 22. Two senior Congress MLAs, M. P. Gangadharan and K. K. Ramachandran Master, today accused the veteran party leader, K. Karunakaran, of monopolising political space for his family and himself and putting obstacles before the party High Command when it was going through a crucial phase in setting the agenda in national politics. Addressing a press conference here, the two MLAs, who were earlier in the Karunakaran camp, said that the Congress would not be able to win any of the seats it contests with K. Muraleedharan in the chair of the KPCC president. They said that it was unfortunate that a senior leader like Mr. Karunakaran should challenge the party high command and the party president, Sonia Gandhi, at a time when all workers should be strengthening her hands. The two leaders said that the current settlement formula being discussed clearly brought out the fact that Mr. Karunakaran's politics did not revolve around issues, but only his family members. And the prevaricating statements issued by Mr. Muraleedharan also did not behove the position he held, they pointed out. Mr. Gangadharan said that he had quit the Karunakaran camp during the Rajya Sabha elections because he strongly felt the veteran leader's move was not correct.
